Aaron Carter, the youngest male solo artist to have four Top 40 singles, began his music career at age seven - singing lead for the band “Dead End”. Two years later he made his first solo appearance, opening for the Backstreet Boys at their concert in Berlin Germany, March 1997. The performance was followed by a record contract and, in the fall of 1997, Aaron Carter released his first hit single, “Crush On You”.
Being in the spotlight was nothing new to Aaron, born with twin sister Angel, in Tampa, Florida he grew up with two other sisters and an older brother. Aaron’s older brother wasn’t just any big brother, his just happens to be, Nick Carter of the award winning Backstreet Boys. By 1997 both Aaron and Nick’s music careers put them both on their way to super stardom.
His first full-length album Aaron Carter (December 1997) achieved gold status worldwide including countries Norway, Spain, Denmark, Canada and Germany.
On May 18, 1998, Carter released the EP Let The Music Heal Your Soul, a fund-raising project that featured vocals by Carter, *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, and The Moffatts amongst others. Via JIVE Records, Aaron Carter was released in the United States on June 16, 1998. His sophomore album, Aaron’s Party (Sep 26, 2000), was also released in the United States and achieved triple-platinum status/certification. All of this before Aaron was officially a teenager.
At 13, Carter recorded the album Oh, Aaron (Aug 7, 2001) which featured his first duet recording with brother Nick. Oh, Aaron was accompanied by a video/DVD of the same name (March 26, 2002) which included footage of his 2001 Concert Tour in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, music videos and personal interviews from Carter.
Carter’s next album, Another Earthquake (September 3, 2002), was released during the Rock, Rap, and Retro Tour. The album featured the patriotic-themed single “America A O” and ballad ”Do You Remember”. The Collection Album Most Requested Hits, (November 3, 2003) included tracks from his last three albums as well as a new single, “One Better”.

Before launching a solo career as the protégé of Jack Johnson, Donavon Frankenreiter began his professional life as a surfer. Born in Southern California on December 10, 1972, he landed a sponsorship with Billabong as a young teenager and moved to Hawaii when he was 14. There, he rented a home from the parents of Jack Johnson, a fellow surfer with an untapped musical talent. The two became fast friends, learning guitar together and hanging out between trips to the beach. Meanwhile, Johnson's musical career had taken a meteoric leap, and he was starting his own Brushfire Records label. Frankenreiter reached out to his old friend, who released Frankenreiter's self-titled debut in May 2004. Johnson also made a guest appearance on the record, along with G. Love and Koool G Murder of the Eels. To create his fifth full-length album Start Livin', Frankenreiter holed up in a Southern California studio for seven days with his longtime bassist Matt Grundy - and no one else. The follow-up to 2010's Glow, Start Livin' is a nine-track selection of folk-infused songs that sweetly reflect the simplicity of their recording. For Frankenreiter, the essence of Start Livin' is most fully captured in its album-opening title track. Accented by handclaps and a stick-in-your-head harmonies, "Start Livin'" is a feel-good, uptempo call to "celebrate tonight." "To me the most beautiful thing about this record is it really reflects who I am today," says Frankenreiter. "Start Livin' means stop worrying about where you've been, where you're going-just start embracing what you have around you. Start loving what you have right now."

There are few bands in the annals of rock music as star-crossed in their history as Badfinger. Pegged as one of the most promising British groups of the late '60s and the one world-class talent ever signed to the Beatles' Apple Records label that remained with the label, Badfinger enjoyed the kind of success in England and America that most other bands could only envy. Yet a string of memorable hit singles -- "Come and Get It," "No Matter What," "Day After Day," and "Baby Blue" -- saw almost no reward from that success. Instead, four years of hit singles and international tours precipitated the suicides of its two creative members and legal proceedings that left lawyers as the only ones enriched by the group's work.

Like Patty Griffin before him, Howie Day emerged from the country quietude of Bangor, ME, into Boston's coffeehouse scene and the world of folk music, proving his talent on his first release, Australia. Singer/songwriters come a dime a dozen, but the truly eloquent ones are priceless, and like Griffin, Day found a place in that lineage. Born in 1981, Day started playing piano as a youngster and eventually took hold of a guitar when he was 14. By the next year, he had his first live gig at Captain Nick's. Within another two years, Day was touring full-time in support of his independently released debut. Citing the likes of Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, and Dave Matthews among his influences, Day incorporated these artists' defining characteristics into his style while still striking out an original sound. Being without the resources of a major label's backing never hindered his touring schedule, as Day opened for everyone from the Wallflowers and Shawn Mullins to Remy Zero and David Gray. He issued the Australia LP in 2000 through his own Daze imprint, and continued gigging relentlessly, both in Boston and beyond. The strong word of mouth found its way to Sony, who put Day on the payroll and re-released a slightly cleaned-up Australia in June 2002. "Ghost" was a minor hit at modern rock radio, and the exposure only strengthened Day's college-age constituency. The Madrigals EP appeared in April 2003; it featured demo and live material and acted as a setup man for Day's official Sony bow. When Stop All the World Now appeared that October, it was an ambitious, richly produced record that revealed a newfound maturity in Day's voice and songwriting. Singles like "Perfect Time of Day" and "Collide" did pretty well, and Day continued to tour in support of the album through 2005. Toward the end of that year he released the Live From... EP. ~ Kelly McCartney, All Music Guide
